Hagge leads Mustangs to fourth place finish
LEMONT, Ill. - The Mount Mercy men's golf team complied a team score of 625 to hold their fourth place position from round one to round two earlier this week, Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 3-4 at the Flyer Intercollegiate played at Cog Hill Dubsdread Course.
Kaleb Hagge led the Mustangs with a total of 153 (77-76) over two rounds, putting him tied for 11th. He had two par three birdies in round two to jump up five spots from the previous day. Joining Hagge in the top 25 was Junn Yong (74-80=154) who tied for 16th and Johan Wigertz (79-80=159) tied for 24th. Rounding out the Mustangs lineup was Corbin Borelli who tied for 27th (81-79=160) and Dominic McCain tied for 39th (80-87=167).
Sixth-ranked Bellevue (Neb.) (280-293=573) and Indian Hills Community College (301-294=595) really distanced themselves from the rest of the field, finishing first and second respectively. Lake Superior State (Mich.) (308-315=623) was third, Mount Mercy (310-315=625) was fourth, and Chicago State (Ill.) (323-306=629) was fifth.
The Mustangs head to Ada, Mich. next Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 10-11 for the Egypt Valley Championship held at the Egypt Valley Country Club. This is Mount Mercy's final tune up before the Heart of America Athletic Conference Preview Tournament at the end of the month, Oct. 24-25.
