EDMOND, Okla. - The Mount Mercy men's golf team began their 2023 campaign with a tough tournament hosted by Oklahoma City. The Mustangs battled the weather conditions and finished eighth at the Allen B. Pease Intercollegiate held at Rose Creek Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.
Mount Mercy's individual golfer, Corbin Borelli, posted the best scores for the Mustangs, finishing tied for 16th. Borelli was 16th after a second round, Mount Mercy low of 74 and held onto that spot despite carding an 80 in the final round. He used six birdies and 31 pars to get the job done at 230 (76-74-80).
In a three-round tournament, Mount Mercy had their best 18 holes right off the bat, carding a 304 led by Junn Yong and Freddie Walker who each shot just three over par. Round two immediately followed round one on the same day in which the Mustangs shot 308 for a day one total of 612, good enough for seventh.
