Men's Golf Places Seventh at Park Spring Classic
PARKVILLE, Mo. — Mount Mercy University claimed a seventh-place finish at the Park Spring Classic, boasting a team total of 907. Leading the charge was Ziwen Zhong, who tied for 19th individually with a cumulative score of 223.
William Woods would win the tournament with a team total of 845, which was 18 shots better than second place Missouri Baptist. Kirkwood and the William Woods B team would round out the top four, as the Mustangs placed seventh with a team total of 907.
Competing at The Deuce At The National in Parkville, Missouri, Mount Mercy delivered a steady performance, opening with a 292 in the second round and closing with a 312 in the third. Zhong, the standout for the Mustangs, posted rounds of 72, 72, and 79, finishing with a total of 223 (+13). Frank Haege made strides after a challenging first round of 79, bouncing back with a 71 in the second and a 76 in the final round, securing 29th place with a total score of 226 (+16).
Adding to the Mustangs' effort, Wil Sigwarth tied for 37th, recording rounds of 80, 75, and 76 for a 231 (+21). Lincoln Beckett tied for 39th, showcasing strong rounds of 77 and 74 before wrapping up with an 81, totaling 232 (+22). Andrew Brown completed the team's lineup with a 239 (+29), facing difficulty in the third round with an 88, following earlier scores of 75 and 76.
The Mustangs will next compete at the Missouri Valley Invite in Marshall on April 20.
