Sasaki leads Mustangs over Wildcats

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Yu Sasaki (JR/Nara, Japan) scored twice, Itsuki Ishihara (JR/Hyogo, Japan) had two assists, and Mount Mercy snapped a two-game losing skid with a 4-0 shutout of Culver-Stockton on Wednesday night at Hadzic Field in a Heart of America Athletic Conference men's soccer match.

Sasaki notched Mount Mercy's first two goals. The first came just five minutes into the match, but the second not until the 72nd minute. Thomas Bean (JR/Cedar Rapids, Iowa) made it 3-0 three minutes later and Jonatha Vieira ended the scoring in the 86th minute. Mustang starting goalkeeper Lucca Munhoz (JR/Sao Paolo, Brazil) stopped Culver-Stockton's only shot on goal.

The regular season may or may not be over for the Mustangs (4-6-2, 4-5-2 Heart). A final conference matchup with Graceland is yet to be played, but it's unclear whether or not that match will happen this fall or be pushed to spring prior to the Heart of America postseason tournament.
