Mustangs net second straight road win
PARKVILLE, Mo. -- A pair of evenly-matched teams squared off in a Heart of America Athletic Conference men's soccer game on Saturday with Mount Mercy coming away with a 2-1 road victory over Park.
Total shots were 16-15 in favor of the Mustangs (6-5-0, 3-3-0 Heart) while shots on goal were dead even at eight apiece. Antonio Cueller (14') got his first score of the season and Yu Sasaki (23') netted his league-leading 12th goal in the first half. That total held up despite a Jakib Jones goal for the Pirates (3-3-1, 2-3-1 Heart) in the 65th minute. Joao Pedro Oliveira stopped seven shots for Mount Mercy, Elias Eichhord made four saves for Park.
The Mustangs are home for their next two matches, beginning with a visit from 10th-ranked Missouri Valley on Saturday, Oct. 9, at 3:30 pm at Hadzic Field at the Robert W. Plaster Athletic Complex.
