Mustangs Ride Strong Weekend into Conference Championship Push

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Mount Mercy University secured a series of strong finishes at the Augie Alt, highlighted by Ryan Mitchell's second-place finish in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:01.77 and Daylin Schaefer's victory in the long jump at 6.88 meters.

In the Men's 200 Meters, Reid Fridley placed 11th with a time of 23.65. Both Marquinn Davis and Brady Marak did not finish in the Men's 100 Meters preliminaries.

Mitchell led the Mustangs in the Men's 1500 Meters, finishing 2nd with a time of 4:01.77. Brady Cortez and Matthew Schaul followed in 3rd and 4th, clocking 4:02.82 and 4:08.64, respectively. Josh Smith secured 15th place with a time of 4:48.88.

In the Men's 110 Hurdles preliminaries, Brayden Kolosick and Levi Wilson-Bries finished 6th and 7th with times of 16.51 and 18.40, respectively. Both athletes did not start in the finals.

Schaefer claimed first place in the Men's Long Jump with a mark of 6.88m. Oscar Nielsen secured 3rd in the Men's High Jump with a clearance of 1.85m and placed 8th in the Long Jump with 5.55m. Tyler Morgan did not clear any height in the Men's Pole Vault.

Michael Glass excelled in the Men's Hammer, placing 2nd with a throw of 53.34m, and took 7th in the Discus with 44.06m. Omar Salinas placed 5th in the Men's Shot Put with a mark of 13.48m. In the Men's Javelin, Owen Mcbride achieved 4th with 38.42m, followed by Kolosick in 5th with 33.85m.

Looking ahead, the Mustangs are set to compete on their home turf in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Friday, May 1, at 5 p.m.
