Mustangs Get Back in the Win Column, Sweeping UHSP
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The No. 10 Mount Mercy men's volleyball team got back on the winning track, sweeping UHSP on the road on Saturday by scores of 25-23, 25-21, and 25-19.
The Mustangs (17-4, 5-4 Heart) saw a total hitting percentage above .350 in each of the three sets, with the second set seeing the highest total at an even .500. Mount Mercy would hold UHSP to not register a set with a hitting percentage greater than .200.
Akeel Oxley and Colin Castelnau had remarkable games on attack for the Mustangs, finishing with 15 and 14 kills respectively. Oxley would finish with a kill percentage of .520 in the match, while Castelnau would end with a kill percentage of .367. Rafael Vieyra would finish with an even 40 assists in the match, marking the third time this season that he would finish a match with 40 or more assists.
Grant Hoover would lead the way in the loss for UHSP (12-6, 3-5 Heart) with 15 kills, registering a hitting percentage of .464. Two UHSP players would register four kills, as Dickson Colado and Cameron Werner would make an impact for the Eutectic offense.
The Mustangs will have a week off of competition before returning to the court at seventh-ranked William Penn in Oskaloosa on March 19.
