Mustangs Sweep Top Seven in Men’s 5K at Great River Open
CANTON, Mo. — Mount Mercy's men's cross country team dominated the men's field at the Culver-Stockton Great River Open on Aug. 29, 2025, sweeping the top seven scoring positions in the 5-kilometer race and cruising to the team title with a perfect score of 15 points. The Mustangs posted an average mile pace of 4:40 and a cumulative team spread under 47 seconds.
Noah Gregoire set the tone in his collegiate debut, winning the individual crown in 14 minutes, 12.8 seconds (4:34.5 pace). Brady Cortez followed closely in second at 14:16.6, while Ryan Mitchell secured third in 14:25.5. Quinn Swift placed fourth in 14:44.1, and Matthew Schaul rounded out the scoring five with a fifth-place finish in 14:45.6.
Dylan Bledsoe (14:53.4) and Jonathon Williams (14:59.4) crossed sixth and seventh, respectively, completing a sweep of the top seven overall scoring spots. Trey Schulte (15:03.8) and Jack Stamp (15:13.7) added depth, while Jamie Hayes (15:51.1) and Seth Countryman (15:51.8) also finished in the top 12 overall.
Missouri Valley finished second in the team standings with 55 points, while Culver-Stockton placed third with 68. Hannibal-LaGrange did not field a full scoring roster.
Mount Mercy will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 19, as they compete at the National Catholic Invite, hosted by the University of Notre Dame, starting at 3:30 p.m.
