Bees trip Mustangs in home opener

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy's offensive struggles continued on Saturday night as St. Ambrose handed the Mustangs a 76-59 defeat in a non-conference women's basketball home opener at Hennessey Recreation Center.

The Mustangs (0-3) have yet to hit the 60-point mark this season and fell to the Bees (3-0) for the second time in a week. Mount Mercy dropped a 70-56 decision in Davenport on Oct. 30. Coming up next for the Mustangs will be another non-conference contest against Waldorf on Nov. 16 at 5:00 pm in Forest City.

Sammy Mia, Sassy Coleman, and Madison Dreckman scored 10 points apiece for Mount Mercy. McKenzie Stoehr added eight points off the bench. Dreckman also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Annika Headington tallied two assists and Kyla Richardson a pair of steals.

The Bees also put three players in double figures, led by Kylie Wroblewski's 17 points. Anna Plumer had 16 points, Jaynee Prestegaard 13. Wroblewski and Shayne Smith each pulled down eight rebounds, Wroblewski also dished out six assists.
