Mustangs net second-straight win
ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Kyla Richardson poured in a game-high 21 points to lead the Mount Mercy women's basketball team to their second win in a row, a 71-64 decision over Missouri Baptist on Saturday afternoon at the Carl & Deloris Petty SRC.
The Mustangs (4-7) scored 24 and 22 points in the second and fourth quarters while shooting better than 50 percent from the field in both periods. They also outscored the Spartans (5-6), 20-10, at the foul line. Richardson had 15 of Mount Mercy's 29 free throw attempts, making nine of them.
McKenzie Stoehr was 3-of-4 from 3-point range while adding 13 points for the Mustangs. Sassy Coleman chipped in 10 points and grabbed six rebounds. Cristian Patron tallied six boards and a pair of assists.
Lauren Ebert led the Spartans with 15 points to go along with eight rebounds. Tionne Taylor had 12 points, Kayleigh Winch 11 points, and Alexis Allshun 10 points and a game-high nine boards.
Next up for Mount Mercy is a Heart of America Athletic Conference tilt with Clarke on Thursday at 5:30 pm at Kehl Center in Dubuque.
