Bio

Shareece  Burrell is entering her fifth season with Mount Mercy University and her first as Head Women’s Basketball Coach. She took over as interim head coach on January 13, following the retirement of the previous coach, and quickly made history by leading the Mustangs to their first-ever postseason victory in the Heart of America Conference. Over the last two seasons as Assistant Coach and then Interim Head Coach, Burrell has helped guide Mount Mercy to a combined record of 33–22. During that time, she served as the program’s Defensive Coordinator and worked closely with the post players, developing a strong defensive identity for the Mustangs.
Burrell played Division I basketball at Bradley University from 2014–2018, earning her bachelor’s degree in Sports Communication. Following her playing career, she joined the coaching staff at the University of Northern Iowa from 2018–2021, serving first as a Graduate Assistant coach while completing her master’s degree in Women and Gender Studies, and later as the program’s Video Coordinator. A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Burrell had a standout high school basketball career at East High School, where she won a state championship in 2011 and was later inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 2020.
 
In addition to coaching, Burrell is the founder and CEO of Restore the Millennials, a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing youth back to Christ.
