Mustangs Cruise to Second Consecutive Title
ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Mount Mercy women's bowling team fought back from qualifying to earn their second tournament win of the season, this time at the Leatherneck Classic.
After qualifying, the Mustangs sat in third place with a pin total of 7515, trailing Judson (7688) and Lindenwood (7623). In bracket play, the Mustangs took on fellow Heart foe William Penn, winning three of four games from the Statesmen. It was then on to face second seeded Lindenwood, where the Mustangs took care of business in four games, while taking the team title from Indiana Tech in the tournament finals in four games.
Individually, Nada Abdul Jalil finished first on the team and tenth overall, ending with a total pin count of 997. Abdul Jalil bowled a pair of 210s, ending just shy of 1000 pins. In her second collegiate tournament, the reigning Heart Bowler of the Week Tori Franklin ended in 12th overall, just 26 pins behind Abdul Jalil with a pin count of 973.
The Mustangs will return to the lanes next weekend, taking on the NAIA Invitational in Topeka, Kansas on Friday.
