Mustangs Place First in Qualifying; Fall in Bracket Play at Warhawk Open

ADDISON, Ill. - The Mustang women's bowling program placed first in qualifying before falling in bracket play at the Warhawk Open, taking place in Illinois this past weekend.

The Mustangs won the qualifying portion of the tournament by over 120 pins, ending with a total pinfall of 7481. Judson would finish in second with 7345, while Lewis University ended with 7250. Calumet and St. Xavier would round out the top five in qualifying.

The first round of bracket play featured the Mustangs paired up with St. Ambrose, where the Mustangs took down the Fighting Bees in two games. It was then a matchup with St. Xavier in the semifinals, where the Mustangs would take the first game before dropping the final two, including a narrow six pin loss in game two, falling in the semifinals. St. Xavier would go on to win the tournament over Marian University.

On the individual side, it was another all-tournament team honor, this time for Tori Franklin, who would place third with a total pinfall of 964. Franklin would bowl a tournament high of 222 in game two. Landing just inside the top 30 was McKenzie Mattice, who would place 29th. Mattice would bowl a tournament high 203 in her first game.

The Mustangs will next hit the lanes on December 18, taking on the Glenn Carlson Invitational in Las Vegas.
