Mustangs Start NAIA Postseason with Win as All-Americans are Announced
LANSING, Mich. - The Mount Mercy women's bowling team started off NAIA postseason play with a victory over Calumet St. Joseph on Friday as a pair of Mustangs earned All-American honors, as well as Coach of the Year.
The Mustangs would await the winner of the first match of the day between ninth seeded Calumet and eighth seeded William Penn, as Calumet came out on top. The Mustangs would waste no time taking care of business, handling Calumet to advance to in the winners side of the blue bracket.
On the individual side, Savannah Dickson and Tori Franklin each earned their first NAIA All-American honors, as Dickson landed on the first team while Franklin landed on the second team. Head coach Andy Diercks also earned his second consecutive NAIA Women's Bowling Coach of the Year honors after leading his team to a first overall seed in the national tournament.
The Mustangs will next compete against SCAD Savannah tomorrow in continuation of the blue bracket.
