Mustangs defend team title at Klocke Classic

MARION, Iowa – The Mount Mercy women's golf team won their own Klocke Classic for the second year in a row this past weekend at Hunter's Ridge Golf Course. The Mustangs built a 23-stroke lead after round one and held on despite round one getting suspended due to heavy rain and blustery conditions for round two on Sunday.

Mount Mercy won the team title with a score of 668. Park was second (680), and Grand View third (690). Laetitia Solombrino from Park posted rounds of 75 and 78 for the individual crown.

Breanna Felderman shot an impressive tournament low, one-over par 73 in round one combined with an 88 in round two, to finish in second place with a total score of 161. Aoi Ito joined Felderman in the top 10, finishing fourth with rounds of 78 and 86 to finish at 164. Kirstin Miller tied for ninth, but after a cardback finished 11th (81-90=171). Gracie Murray tied for 14th (82-91=173) and Kaitlin Hotchkiss tied for 28th (96-90=186).

The Mount Mercy "B" team finished sixth with a team score of 739 and leading the way for them was Maddie Hornback (90-92=182) who tied for 21st. Lucia Larruscain was 22nd (88-95=183), Alison Robu was 26th (88-96=184), Grace Haas tied for 31st (95-96=191), and Dulce Gefke was 34th (94-98=192).

The Mustangs had a "C" team as well who finished ninth out of 12 teams at 794. Ellie Houston shot 87 and 95 to finish tied for 21st at 182. Amelia Lueck tied for 31st (93-98-191), Jordyn Lang tied for 47th (95-111=206), and Joselyn Hildebrand was 54th (101-114=215).

Mount Mercy travels to Bolivar, Mo. on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 19-20 to compete in the Lady Panther Invitational hosted by Drury University at the Silo Ridge Country Club.
