Mustangs fourth at Heart Preview

MORAVIA, Iowa - After nearly three weeks off, the Mount Mercy women's golf team was back in action for the final time this season, competing at the Heart Championship Preview held at The Preserve on Rathbun Lake Golf Course yesterday and today. 

The conditions were less than ideal, postponing round one to be completed on day two due to heavy rainfall. The Mustangs finished their 36 holes in the cold and wind, coming in fourth place- their fourth top-five team finish of the year. William Penn was first (318-312=630), Park (Mo.) was second (328-329=657), Evangel (Mo.) was third (333-329=662), Mount Mercy was fourth (334-340=674), and Central Methodist (Mo.) was fifth (333-349=682). 

Kirsten Miller used 10 pars and a birdie to pace the Mustangs with an 80 in round one. She finished the tournament tied for 12th (80-86-166). Breanna Felderman matched Miller at 166 (82-84). Gracie Murray (85-82=167) and Aoi Ito (84-84=168), competing as an individual also finished in the top 20, landing at 15th and 16th, respectively. Kaitlin Hotchkiss (87-88=175) was 28th and Lucia Larruscain (88-90=178) tied for 34th. 

This tournament wraps up Mount Mercy's fall season. The Mustangs travel to Lake Texoma, Texas over spring break to host the Tussle at Tanglewood, Sunday and Monday, Mar. 12-13 held at Tanglewood Resort Golf Course.
