Mustangs Open Spring Season in Florida
DEBARY, Fla. - The Mustang women's golf team opened their season at the Babs Steffens Invitational, hosted by Stetson University in Florida.
The field was loaded with NCAA DI talent, as host Stetson would win the tournament by ten shots at 15 over par. Appalachian State would take home second at 25 over par, while fellow NAIA school Keiser would round out the top three at 53 over par. The Mustangs would place 15th at 154 over par.
Chiara Bothe would lead the Mustangs, ending in 61st place at 34 over par, shooting a tournament total of 247. Bothe would fire off rounds of 84 and 83 to start day one, while improving by three shots on day two to shoot an 80. Gracie Murray ended her tournament just one shot behind Bothe, ending in a tie for 65th. Murray's best round came in round one with an 81.
The Mustangs will take the next two weeks off, next competing at the Kona Ice Keiser Cup in Florida on March 8.
