Mustangs Secure Second Place Finish at Mustang Spring Invite

CORALVILLE, Iowa — Chiara Bothe secured first place with a final score of +3 at the Mustang Spring Invitational held at Brown Deer Golf Club, while teammates Gracie Murray and Lauren McPhillips-Newcomb tied for seventh at +19.

St. Catherine took home the team title at 58 over par, shooting a team total of 634 over the course of two rounds. The Mustangs were just 12 shots behind, shooting a team total of 646. Fellow heart foes Clarke and William Penn would round out the top four at 670 and 690, respectively.

Bothe led the Mustangs with a strong performance, finishing the tournament at +3. After shooting +3 in the first round, she improved to an even par in the second round. Murray and McPhillips-Newcomb both tied for seventh place with a final score of +19. Murray posted rounds of +10 and +9, while McPhillips-Newcomb recorded scores of +12 and +7 over the two days. Kirsten Miller, competing as part of the B team, tied for 13th place with a +24. Miller improved significantly in the second round, reducing her score from +16 to +8.

The Mustangs will next compete at the Wartburg Spring Invite, scheduled to take place on April 25.
