Bio

Williams was Mount Mercy’s head women’s golf coach from 2006-16 and has served as the Mustangs’ assistant men’s and women's golf coach since 2016. His volunteer work has included being a national rater for NAIA women’s golf, two terms on the Board of Directors of the Iowa Golf Association, and a member of the IGA’s Herman Sani Scholarship Committee. Williams also has a competitive golf background having played on a high school state championship team and was a 1st team all-conference collegiate player, competing in two NAIA national championships while at Emporia State. 

More recently as a senior player he has to his credit an Iowa 4ball state championship, a Joe August tournament title, and a 2021 Cedar Rapids ‘Silver Senior Division’ City Am Championship. Williams also compiled a 29-13-3 (67.7%) match play record as a four-time member of Iowa’s Tri-States Cup select team and as a seven-time participant in the CR vs IC Ryder Cup and Senior Challenge match series.

Williams earned a B.S.E. degree from Kansas State Teachers College (now Emporia State University) in 1970 and his M.A. from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State) in 1979.
