Bio

Jordan Amelon joined the Mount Mercy women's golf program as the head coach prior to the 2024-25 season. She came to Cedar Rapids following a stint as the Assistant Women's Golf Coach at the University of Nevada in Reno. While with the Wolfpack, Amelon helped lead the team that had graduated three of their top five players the year prior to an all-time low conference championship score in her first season, along with five team top-five finishes. She coached current EPSON Tour player Leah John to three tournament wins. Amelon also handled recruiting efforts at both the regional and international level, while also managing tournament operations and travel.

Prior to UNR, Amelon played golf on the Cactus Tour while also caddying on the Ladies European Tour. An Iowa City native, Amelon played golf at St. Catherine University in Minnesota before utilizing her graduate year at the University of Iowa. While at St. Kate's, she became one of the most decorated golfers in program history. She broke the school record for low round and lowest season average, and becoming the first Wildcat golfer to play NCAA DI golf upon graduation. She was a two year team captain who won multiple First Team All-Conference honors, and was a standout in the classroom, being named to the Dean's List and an All-America Scholar Team honor.

With the Hawkeyes, Amelon was a walk-on pursuing her master's degree in Sports and Recreation Management before earning a scholarship. She totaled 14 counted rounds, and helped lead a team comprised of all underclassmen at the Big Ten Championships. Individually, Amelon placed in the top half of the field, totaling a score of 229 over three rounds. She shot a career low 70 at the par-72 Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate before shooting a 54-hole low score of 225 at the Westbrook Invitational. Amelon was named the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient, given out to a student-athlete who best demonstrates good sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and good citizenship outside of intercollegiate athletics.

Outside of golf, Amelon is a spokesperson for the Heart Friends organization. Amelon has undergone multiple heart surgeries, and routinely volunteers and helps lead initiatives to get kids with physical limitations to play golf.
