The Mount Mercy women's soccer team had a few more opportunities but couldn't find the back of the net as Park scored in the first half and held on to defeat the Mustangs, 1-0, in a Heart of America Athletic Conference match on Saturday afternoon at Hadzic Field.
Mount Mercy finished with an 11-9 advantage in total shots and both teams placed four of them on goal. Grace Byers stopped three Pirate scoring attempts, but one got through, and that was by Dragana Andonovski in the 36th minute that proved to be the clincher.
Isabel Alvarez, Miran Sakai, Brielle Bastian, and Nathalie Primbs each had a pair of shots for the Mustangs, who host Culver-Stockton this Wednesday at 5:00 pm at Hadzic Field.
