Ertz races at Iowa, Mustangs compete at Cornell

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Andrea Ertz set a school record against a talented field at the University of Iowa and several other marks fell this weekend at the Hilltop Invitational hosted by Cornell.

Ertz competed against a field of Big Ten, Big XII, and Missouri Valley Conference athletes at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City. She posted a school-record time of 2:14.12 in the 800 meter run, which is also the top time in the NAIA this season.

At Cornell, men's event winners included Ceondae Adams in the 60 meter dash (:07.02) and 60-meter hurdles (:08.65), Nate Keiper in the 400 meters (:51.93), and the 4x400 meter relay team (Jordan Schroeder, Keiper, Ryan Clancy, Nathan Skala) (3:37.45).

Women's champions were J'Lyn Knutson in the mile (5:38.44) and the 4x400 meter relay squad (Alexandra Donahue, Katherine Garner, Sydney Woods, Carli Reittinger) (4:31.04).

Adams' times in both the 60 meters and 60-meter hurdles were school records. Additional marks that made the top-five performers list were Caleb Rutherford (45'-11-1/4") and Felipe Castro (43'-8") in the shot put and Bre Nail in the weight throw (48'-1/2").

The Mustangs will compete next weekend at the Fighting Bee Invitational. Competition happens on Friday and Saturday in Davenport.
