Women's track & field nabs three event titles at Grinnell

GRINNELL, Iowa -- In their season-opening meet, Mount Mercy's J'Lyn Knutson, Bre Nail, and Ava Conrad brought home event titles from the Grinnell Opener on Friday.

Knutson edged teammates Abby Knepper and Kayla Overton to win the mile run in 5:21.48. Knepper was runner-up in 5:34.04 and Overton third with a time of 5:34.54.

Nail and Conrad finished 1-2 in the shot put, with Nail coming out on top with a toss of 13.14 meters. Conrad went 12.90 meters. Teammates Jaclyn Wooldridge (10.73m) and Grace Kelley (10.28m) were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Conrad was your champion in the weight throw, tossing it 14.31 meters. Mount Mercy's Jzonei Jones finished third (13.46m) while Nail came in fifth (13.12m).

The Mustangs will compete again on Dec. 9 at the Finals Week Invitational hosted by St. Ambrose in Davenport.
