Women's Track and Field Finds Success at Dual Meets
DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Mount Mercy University women's track and field team delivered several noteworthy performances at the Frigid Bee Invitational, hosted by St. Ambrose University on Saturday.
Brooklyn Johnson claimed first place in the long jump, achieving a mark of 5.23 meters (17'2"), while Bre Nail excelled in the shot put, securing second place with a throw of 12.89 meters (42'3.5").
Additional strong showings included Ava Conrad, who took third in the shot put with a distance of 12.20 meters (40'0.5"), and Alyssa Striegel, who finished sixth in the same event, recording a throw of 11.34 meters (37'2.5").
The Mustangs would also compete at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic, held at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri.
Junior Kalin Rotzoll led the team with a second-place finish in the 5000m, clocking an impressive 18:15.80. Fellow sophomore Abby Knepper and junior Ruth Jennings followed with strong sixth and seventh-place finishes, recording times of 19:10.96 and 19:19.02, respectively.
Junior Kayla Overton rounded out Mount Mercy's top performances in the event, finishing 13th at 19:29.44.
The team will be back in action at the SAU Finals Week Invite, held in Davenport on Saturday, December 14th.
