Knutson Nabs Title at Friday Knight Lights Meet

WAVERLY, Iowa – The Mount Mercy women's indoor track and field team took home an event title at the Friday Knight Lights meet, hosted by Wartburg College, on Friday. 

The Mustangs found success across the board. Starting with the field events, Brooklyn Johnson finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.09m. Bre Nail led the Mustangs in the shot put with a throw of 13.26m, finishing third overall. Following Nail were Ava Conrad (11.55m) and Alyssa Striegel (11.53m), who placed 10th and 11th, respectively. In the weight throw, Bre Nail recorded a mark of 14.93m for an eighth-place finish, with Ava Conrad close behind in ninth at 14.60m.

The sprint and distance events showed some real speed, led by J'Lyn Knutson claiming the 1,000m title with a time of 3:16.71. In the 60m dash, Kaylee Bunn finished sixth at 8.11 seconds, followed by Brooklyn Johnson in seventh at 8.22 seconds.

Corinne Gadient secured fifth place in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:19.27, while Abby Knepper finished seventh in the one-mile race at 5:19.61. The Mustangs' 4x400m relay team clocked in at 4:16.11, finishing sixth overall. 

The Mustangs will return to action at the Heart of America Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 14.
