Mustangs Wrap Up Strong Outing at Mustang Carnival and Open

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -The Mount Mercy women's outdoor track and field team closed out the Mustang Carnival and Open with strong performances across multiple events.

In the field events, three Mustangs placed in the top 10 in the hammer throw, led by Alyssa Striegel in third with a toss of 45.65 meters. Natalie DeFord followed in fourth at 44.24 meters, and Ava Conrad placed sixth with a mark of 43.04 meters.

Conrad also led Mount Mercy in the discus throw, finishing second with a distance of 43.77 meters. Striegel placed sixth at 41.24 meters, and Grace Kelly came in ninth with a throw of 40.23 meters.

Brooklyn Johnson earned a second-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 10.86 meters.

On the track, the 4x100-meter relay team — Gralynn Martin, Johnson, Kiah Coffin, and Kaylee Bunn — placed second with a time of 50.72 seconds. Johnson also finished second in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 1:00.58.

In the 800-meter open, Catie Reittinger took fourth with a time of 2:21.75, while Corinne Gadient placed seventh in the elite division with a time of 2:19.71. Laura Bishop rounded out the day with an eighth-place finish in the 1,500-meter open, running 5:41.08.

Mount Mercy will return to action on Saturday, April 19, when they host the Debacker Invitational.
