Mustangs Compete at Drake Relays and Kip Janvrin Invite

DES MOINES, Iowa - Mount Mercy's women's track and field team saw action in two meets Thursday, competing at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa.

On the track at Drake, the Mustangs' 4x800-meter relay team - Catie Reittinger, Corine Gadient, Esther Attwood, and J'Lyn Knutson - placed 13th overall with a time of 9:38.72. Abby Knepper was the lone Mustang in the 3000m steeplechase open, finishing 23rd overall at 11:22.02. 

Meanwhile, other Mustang athletes competed at the Kip Janvrin Invite, hosted by Simpson College.

In the 1,500-meter run, Annabelle Neal led the Mustangs with a 44th-place finish in 5:04.33. Kendall Orozco followed close behind in 48th at 5:08.37.

In the 5,000-meter event, Kalin Rotzoll placed 50th overall with a time of 19:24.66. Kayla Overton finished 55th in 19:34.19, while Ruth Jennings crossed the line in 87th at 20:53.23.

Mount Mercy is set to return to action Friday, April 25, for day three of the Drake Relays and day two of the Kip Janvrin Invite.
