Mustangs Shine Across Meets, Build Momentum Heading into Conference Championships

INDIANOLA, Iowa — Mount Mercy's Abby Knepper secured the top spot in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase at the 2026 Kip Janvrin Open, clocking a time of 10:45.44 at Simpson College.

In Rock Island, Ill., Mount Mercy University achieved a first-place finish in the women's javelin by Miyah Fox with a throw of 37.19 meters at the Augie Alt, complemented by a second-place result in the women's 800 meters by Cora McArtor and a second-place team effort in the women's 4x100 relay, highlighting a competitive meet at Augustana College.

Gralynn Martin placed 11th in the 200 Meters with a time of 28.27. Esther Oyunge finished 5th in the 400 Meters with a time of 1:07.31.

In the 800 Meters, McArtor secured 2nd place with a time of 2:31.40, followed by Olivia Norrish in 4th at 2:34.52, Maria Dudzik in 5th at 2:36.32, and Annabelle Neal in 9th at 2:48.66. Emma Althoff finished 5th in the 1500 Meters with a time of 5:13.35.

Danielle Dimmings was 2nd in the preliminaries of the 100 Hurdles with a time of 16.25, but did not place in the finals due to disqualification.

Carla Santos placed 5th in the Pole Vault with a mark of 3.11m (10' 2.5").

In the Shot Put, Kylie Smither placed 4th with a mark of 10.76m (35' 3.75"), followed by Claire Geerts in 6th at 10.40m (34' 1.5"), Claire Hynek and Jaclyn Wooldridge both at 10.35m (33' 11.5") in 7th and 8th respectively, Allee Clark in 9th at 10.10m (33' 1.75"), and Savannah Slobodnik in 11th at 9.05m (29' 8.25").

In Discus, Geerts was 5th with 37.80m (124' 0"), Slobodnik was 6th at 36.46m (119' 7"), and Clark was 10th at 27.34m (89' 8"). Slobodnik achieved 7th in Hammer with 38.89m (127' 7"), followed by Smither in 8th at 38.05m (124' 10"), Wooldridge in 9th at 37.12m (121' 9"), Clark in 10th at 36.43m (119' 6"), Geerts in 11th at 35.17m (115' 5"), and Hynek in 12th at 34.11m (111' 11").

In Javelin, Fox won with a throw of 37.19m (122' 0"), Dayna Maiers was 3rd at 33.45m (109' 9"), Geerts was 5th at 24.80m (81' 4"), and Hynek was 6th at 24.19m (79' 4").

Looking ahead, the Mustangs will host the Heart of America Conference Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The competition is set to begin on Friday, May 1.
