Mustangs Dominate Women’s 4K at Great River Open

CANTON, Mo. — Mount Mercy's women's cross country team claimed the title at the Culver-Stockton Great River Open on August 29, 2025, posting a winning total time of 1:12:09 and an average split of 14:25 over the 4-kilometer course. The Mustangs totaled 19 team points, led by top-five finishes from all scoring runners.

Abby Knepper delivered the individual crown for the Mustangs, winning in 13:36.9 (5:28.6 per mile), followed closely by teammate Kalin Rotzoll, in second with a time of 14:08.6.

The Mustangs' depth was evident as their runners rounded out the scoring positions: Annabelle Neal (14:27.7) and Kayla Overton (14:33.1) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Olivia Norrish took seventh (15:23.1), and Maria Dudzikscored ninth (15:33.5), reinforcing Mount Mercy's dominance. 

Second-place team Culver-Stockton finished with a total of 52 points and an average time of 15:58; Central Methodist followed in third with 58 points and a 16:18 average.

Mount Mercy will be back on the course on Friday, Sept. 19th, traveling to the University of Notre Dame for the National Catholic Invite, starting at 3:30 p.m.
